Quickstart & First Connection

Connect to your local SQLite file, remote PostgreSQL server, or DuckDB analytical workspace in under 60 seconds.

Connecting in 60 Seconds

Setting up your first database connection in CATable is fast and secure.

  1. Launch CATable: Unlock your sovereign vault with your Master Password.
  2. Select Connection Type: Click + New Connection and pick your database engine:
    • PostgreSQL: Ideal for production web backends and cloud instances.
    • MySQL: Standard relational databases or legacy clusters.
    • SQLite: Single-file embedded databases (e.g., local dev or mobile apps).
    • DuckDB: Instant analytics on Parquet, CSV, or Arrow data files.
    • Redis: Cache stores and background pub/sub queues.
  3. Enter Parameters: Fill in Host, Port, Database name, and credentials. You can also paste standard connection strings like:
    postgresql://dbadmin:[email protected]:5432/production_core?sslmode=verify-full
  4. Test Connection: Click Test Connection to run pre-flight network, SSL certificate, and credential validation.
  5. Save & Open Studio: Save the connection profile to your encrypted vault and instantly access the schema tree and SQL editor.
Tip: Label production connections with the Production Flag to enable the Blast Radius Shield, enforcing explicit confirmations before destructive operations.
